“October has seen the Arts District overflowing with events, performances and exhibitions as Dallas has come together to celebrate our remarkable Arts community,” said Veletta Lill, Executive Director of the Dallas Arts District. “ART IN OCTOBER has been incredible, but I wanted to end the celebration with something new and non-traditional for the district. It is Halloween and there is no better way to unleash creativity at this time of year than invite people to reveal their inner Zombie. The Zombie Walk will be pure, unadulterated fun and I see it becoming a permanent fixture in the Arts District annual calendar.”

The Zombies will gather in front of The Meyerson (at the corner of Pearl & Flora) at 6:00 pm, the Walk will kick off with a collective shuffle, blankets and lawn chairs in tow, to the AT&T Performing Arts Center where at 6:15 pm dancers from Booker T. Washington High School will perform the dance routine from Michael Jackson’s 1983 iconic “Thriller.” Zombies, dancers and crowds will have the chance to grab sustenance from the Dallas Arts District’s food trucks in advance and drinks will be available for sale throughout the evening. At 7:00 pm the DALLAS Film Society screening of George Romero’s classic “Night Of The Living Dead” (1968) will begin at the AT&T Performing Arts Center Sammons Park.

James Faust, Artistic Director of the DALLAS Film Society, adds: “There will be Zombies. There will be a star lit sky. There will be a cult black and white independent movie classic. There will be an Arts District buzzing with art redefined. On the eve of Halloween, there will be no other place in Dallas as electric and as entertaining. I urge everyone to join us. Personally, I can’t wait.”

The Zombie Walk and the screening of “Night Of The Living Dead” are free and open to the public. Prizes will be awarded for the best DIY zombie costumes and make-up. The Dallas Theater Center’s professional stage make-up team will also be holding make-up workshops from 5:00 – 6:00 pm. Zombies are encouraged to come in their own costume and make-up for this event but it is not required to participate.
