‘Spider-Man’ Reboot To Shoot In L.A. – And That’s Okay
ComingSoon.net sent “Spider-Man” fans into a tailspin tizzy with the news that Sony was set to start shooting their younger, Sam Raimi-less (read: cheaper) franchise reboot in Los Angeles in December.
“Wait!” the geekerati cried, almost in unison. “‘Spider-Man’ is a New York institution, as iconic as Madison Square Garden or the Brooklyn Bridge! Epic Fail!”
While it’s true that Peter Parker is and always should be a Manhattan kid, the truth is all three of Raimi’s “Spider-Man” movies were shot primarily in Los Angeles, with a few exterior shots in the Big Apple. (The same holds true for TV shows like “Seinfeld,” which have NYC woven into its DNA.) Amazing what can be done with a backlot and good set designers.
The Marc Webb-directed “Spider-Man,” with Andrew Garfield donning the red and blue uniform, is slated to hit theaters July 3, 2012.
