Ogres Top Fashionistas: ‘Shrek’ Wins Box Office For Second Week
The vaunted return of “Sex And The City” wasn’t enough to win the day at the box office, as “Shrek Forever After” beat all comers at theaters with an estimated $43 million take. “Sex And The City 2″ brought in an estimated $37.7 million, landing in second place on its debut weekend.
While Carrie Bradshaw and crew won the Friday gate receipts with a strong $13.1 million, poor word-of-mouth and brutal critic’s reaction trickled down to dampen the take during the weekend.
Disney’s “Prince of Persia: The Sands Of Time” landed in third place on its debut weekend, with a lower-than-expected $30.1 million estimate.
