Marvel Makes Theirs 3D

It looks as though we’ll be getting our first Marvel Studios 3D film next year with the July 22nd release of “Captain America: The First Avenger”. When asked about Marvel’s 3D films when interview by the L.A. Times, Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige, says that they’re looking to film–initially, as apposed to altering the film in post–”Cap” with 3D cameras (much like the cameras used in the filming of “Avatar”, but maybe not as cutting-edge).

The original plan was to edit last weekend’s “Iron Man 2″ in post-production, but these plans were scrapped after discovering how slow of a turn-around time 3D-editing actually has. These initial plans have also sparked rumors of next years–and currently shooting–Marvel Studios film, “Thor”, being converted into 3D in post. These whispers and rumors have been furthered by Kevin Feige who said in his interview with Cinematical, “We will be doing it at some point.” That point may be Thor, but it’s far more likely to be The First Avenger: Captain America.”

So, look for “Thor: IN 3D!” next year (with bated breath, of course), but expect “Captain America: The First Avenger IN 3D” next July.
