Team CoCo in Fox Talks

In a move anticipated since the beginning of the whole late night kerfluffle, Fox is in talks with Conan O’Brien’s camp.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Fox execs have a plan that may put a deal in place by the May upfronts.

Insiders caution that this is all very tentative. The bigget hurdle seems to be the syndication show deals that many Fox affiliates have in place, which could mean a non-uniform starting time. Also, Fox wants to keep the cost down to $60 million a year, as opposed to the $90 million NBC spent annually. At the same time, there are cable networks who would love to get their hands on the redhead. And with CoCo’s “Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour” tour selling out across the country — demonstrating loyalty from a demographically-desirable audience with disposable income — he’s a very hot property.

Speaking of the tour, which kicks off April 12, Deadline New York relays news of early discussions regarding production of a movie documenting the tour. O’Brien is, after all, only legally prohibited from being funny on the small screen.
