Horror Beatdown – March 3, 2010

You’ve been very naughty boys and girls. You know what that means? It’s time for another horror beatdown.

Freed Slaves. Killed Vampires.

Not to be outdone by some peoples’ personal choice for anthropomorphic personification of divinity, one of America’s greatest presidents is gearing up for the silver screen to put bloodsuckers in their place. Are you ready for…?

“Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.”

So far, Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov (“Wanted”) are lining up to produce a feature from the book by Seth Grahame-Smith, who also brought us “Pride, Prejudice and Zombies”, which supposedly already in pre-production. Could be interesting. Check out the teaser for the book.

“Box of Shadows” opens site

While going through a list of my small, but dedicated band of twitter-bots followers, I noticed that one of them was actually posting things. A closer examination showed it to be the twitter account for a little indie horror flick called, “Box of Shadows.” Directed by Mauro Borrelli (on illustrator on the recent Wolfman remake), The freshly minted site says the movie is “the story of a group of college friends who discover a 15th-century coffin that allows them to experience the world as ghosts. While their first adventures in the spirit world are playful and innocent, the “Box of Shadows” soon brings out the group’s most dangerous impulses and desires. The friends find themselves pulled into a world of evil where they learn the line between life and death is there for a reason.”

Going by the trailer, the film looks like a mix of “Flatliners”, “Final Destination”, “13 Ghosts”, and “The Hollow Man”. But don’t take my word for it – check it out for yourself: http://www.boxofshadowsthemovie.com/trailer.html

A new look at the After.Life (one sheets)

As a rule, NO ONE should ever pass up the opportunity to post pictures of Christina Ricci. This is no exception. Ricci, along with Liam Neeson and Justin Long star with her in After.Life (don’t’ ask me why they have a period between the words – it’s a studio thing). It’s a movie about a girl (Ricci) who wakes up after an accident to find out she’s dead and that mortician who’s preparing her body (Neeson) can communicate with the dead. Madcap horror mayhem ensues.

After.Life is in limited release April 9. MTV brings us this lovely one-sheet.
