’2012′ TV Show Destroyed; Emmerich Sets Sights On ‘Foundation’
Just before the movie smashed into theaters, ABC was reportedly in discussions with Roland Emmerich to continue the “2012″ plotline into a weekly drama.
Whether it’s the recent tailspin genre dramas “FlashForward” and “V” have found themselves in, or someone in ABC’s development corps watched “2012″ and realized it’s just not that good of a movie, those plans have been swallowed whole by a tidal wave 20 stories tall ground to a halt. The network has broken off talks with Emmerich’s camp on the production; ABC refused to comment on the matter further.
Meanwhile, Emmerich has been shortlisted as director on the big-screen adaptation of Issac Asimov’s Foundation, one of the most revered science-fiction books of all time. If you’ll pardon me, I’m going to go sit quietly in the corner and convulse.
