Kathryn Bigelow To Direct HBO Series
Not only is Kathryn Bigelow set to follow “The Hurt Locker†with “Triple Frontiers†(with Mark Boal, the writer of “Hurt Locker) and “Held By the Taliban,†but she’ll be directing for the small screen as well (and, of course, come March 7, she may be redecorating around a small gold statuette).
Bigelow will be directing the pilot for “The Miraculous Year†for HBO from a script by John Logan (of “The Aviator†and “The Last Samurai†fame). The show has been called “an examination of a New York family as seen through the lens of a charismatic, self-destructive Broadway composer…a light family drama with a flamboyant character at the center.â€
It’s not Bigelow’s first venture into television; she’s directed past episodes of “Homicide: Life on the Street†and “Karen Sisco.â€
So far HBO has only ordered a pilot for the current project.
