Getting Frenched: New Clip From French Zombie Flick ‘La Horde’
We here in the States love to bitch about the French. Sure there’s the whole “Jerry Lewis” thing and that “not being able to defend themselves” thing, but you know what? They are downright kicking our star-spangled ass when in comes down to making horror movies. I don’t just mean typical French thumbing their nose at it, I mean football hooligan-style curbstomping it. Movies like “Haute Tension”, “frontiere(s)”, and “Martyrs” have been smarter, more creative and just flat out scarier than anything that has come out of Hollywood these days. A prime example is this little snipped from the upcoming “La Horde.” Here’s the synopsis to set it up for you:
“North of Paris. In order to avenge the murder of one of their own by a group of ruthless gangsters, four corrupt cops go on a rampage in a condemned building serving as the mobsters’ hideout. Now trapped, the officers are about to be executed when the unimaginable occurs: hordes of bloodthirsty, cannibalistic creatures invade the building, savagely attacking everyone. Unexpected alliances are made when their lives are threatened by the unthinkable.”
Let the carnage begin…
Dirty cops? Gangsters? Zombies? Sounds like a funbaby from Tarrantino and George Romero. Color me excited. “La Horde” is due to be released in France next year but doesn’t have a release date yet here (though IFC has the distribution rights). Here’s to hoping it’s soon.
