Cameron-apalooza: ‘Avatar’ and Atom Bombs

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, he is, in fact, King of the World.

In a scant 20 days, “Avatar” has raked in close to $1.1 billion (say it like Carl Sagan – “billy-ons”) world wide and has rocketed to be the third-highest grossing film of all time. Contained in that number is 367 million in domestic gross (second only to “The Dark Knight” for that length of time) and a mammoth 731 million overseas.

20 days.
$1.1 billion.
Numbers like that give Bill Gates wood like mahogany.

And if you think little Jimmy Money is resting on his laurels, think again. The New York Times, in an obituary for Tsutomu Yamaguchi (the only “official” survivor of both atomic blasts to hit Japan in World War II), reported that Cameron visited him prior to his death to discuss a film project about atom bombs.

These days, that seems like the only way Cameron will make a bomb.
