Horror Beatdown: December 21
In an effort to not convert The Crash into a horror news site, I’m consolidating some smaller news items from the genre into some handy bite-sized nuggets. Some of these are a few days late because I was whisked off to see “Avatar†when I was about to post these so forgive their tardiness.
New Poster for “The Craziesâ€
Big deal, sez you? Au contraire. Big deal indeed. “The Crazies†is a remake of the 1973 George Romero classic (also called in some circles “Code Name: Trixieâ€) about a small town that gets exposed to a military biological weapon that makes everyone the aforementioned crazy. The film is directed by Breck Eisner (“Saharaâ€), stars noted Bill Paxton look-alike Timothy Olyphant (“The Perfect Getawayâ€) and Radha Mitchell (“Silent Hillâ€) and has a release date of February 26, 2010

Fishburne joins “Predators†cast
A little bit of info has leaked off the set of “Predators,†director Robert Rodriguez’s addition to the “Predator†franchise. According to JoBlo.com, Laurence Fishburne has joined the cast as Nolan, who seems to be a veteran Predator hunter. Not much else is known about the character, so more on this as news becomes available.
“Predators†stars Adrian Brody, Topher Grace, Danny Trejo and Derek Mears and is directed by Nimrod Antal, who worked with Fishburne on the movie, “Armored.â€
Black is the Devil’s Rainbow
I just loves me some Clive Barker… at least his written work seeings how it seems all the adaptations of his work are butchered beyond belief. So, I’m very happy that the next relief from this horror master is a book of short stories called, “Black Is The Devil’s Rainbow: Tales Of A Journeyman.†According to Barker’s website, these stories were originally meant to go with a work that later turned into “The Scarlet Gospels,†but is now a standalone collection. Look for a Halloween 2010 release.
