Liveblog: 67th Golden Globes Nominations
We’ll have all of the major Golden Globes nominees here as they’re released, along with any commentary along the way.
6:00 am PT: Now that the nominations are all set, here’s the recap:
- The nomination leaderboard: “Up In The Air” (6)
“Nine” (5)
“Avatar” (4)
“The Hurt Locker,” “Inglourious Basterds,” “Invictus,” “Precious,” “It’s Complicated,” “A Single Man” (3) - Meryl Streep is competing against herself in the Best Actress (Comedy or Musical) category, for her roles in “It’s Complicated” and “Julie & Julia.” It’s the second year in a row she’s had dual nominations (“Mamma Mia” and “Doubt”), but the first where both were in the same category.
- “(500) Days Of Summer” had a stronger-than-expected showing
- “The Lovely Bones” garnered only one nomination, for Stanley Tucci (Best Supporting Actor)
- The biggest surprise on the movie side might be Neill Blomkamp and Terri Tatchell getting a nomination for Best Screenplay for “District 9″ – the dialogue was a mix of scripted and “guided improv” scenes

5:07 am PT: There’s something to be said about having the correct time on your official web site. We scheduled the liveblog based on the HFPA’s time of 5:00 am. Now, we’re in a holding pattern, and don’t think we’ll see a list of nominations until 6:00 am.
In the meantime, check out the predictions from “our man in Hollywood,” Scott Feinberg – his 2010 Golden Globe prognostication is live at And The Winner Is…
4:58 am: While I’m really looking forward to Ricky Gervais hosting the Golden Globes on January 17 (broadcast on NBC this year), I’ve got to wonder how much of a free reign he’ll have to be as bitingly funny as he normally is. (Man, that was a convoluted sentence.) It’s a long way from badgering Steve Carrell. It’ll definitely boost the broadcast’s profile this year.
