Polanski’s ‘Ghost Writer’ Set For U.S. Release

Even though Roman Polanski is under house arrest in Switzerland, he’s still making money. Summit Entertainment will now distribute his thriller “The Ghost Writer” in North America. Release is expected in the first half of 2010.

Polanski directed, co-wrote, and co-produced the film. Robert Benmussa and Alain Sarde also produced. The film is based on author Robert Harris’ novel “The Ghost,” who co-wrote with Polanski. Summit acted as the foreign sales agent for the flick.

In the film, Pierce Brosnan plays a former Prime Minister of Britain writing his memoirs on an island. His aide drowns and a ghostwriter (Ewan McGregor) is sent to help him finish. Olivia Williams, Kim Cattrall, Jim Belushi, Robert Pugh, and Tom Wilkinson round out the cast.

No word yet on Polanski’s extradition status, just a nice check for his bank account.

About Josh Rollins

Josh Rollins is currently writing his eighth novel, and by eighth we mean first, and by first we mean he's not writing it. Josh does stand-up comedy, radio production, and grocery store clerking, all very poorly. The only thing he is actually pretty good at is watching movies.
