First Look: Stewart, Fanning In ‘The Runaways’
Rock purists will normally agree on the groundbreaking nature of The Runaways, an all-teenage girl band from the Seventies that featured Joan Jett, Lita Ford and Cherie Currie. The band released four albums before disintegrating in 1979, leaving behind classics like “Cherry Bomb,” “I Love Playing With Fire” and “Born To Be Bad.”

The film based on the band’s rise and fall, co-produced by Jett and written and directed by Floria Sigismondi, will have its world premiere at the 2010 Sundance festival. The festival site wound up debuting the first official photo from the production in the listing, which shows Dakota Fanning as Currie, and Kristen Stewart as Jett.
