‘Eclipse’ Goes IMAX

I suppose one can never have enough money. Summit Entertainment will debut in IMAX theaters next summer with “Eclipse,” the third “Twilight film.” It will launch in IMAX theaters and all the old fashioned ones simultaneously on June 30.

“Twilight” and “New Moon” have grossed over $880 million combined worldwide, and “New Moon” has only been out for three weeks. So, before “Eclipse” even comes out, this thing might just be at $1 billion. Putting in IMAX makes a lot of sense. I mean, when you have $1 billion, don’t you want $2 billion?

The third film is about the struggle between teen vampires and teen werewolves. Let’s hope there’s a pretty sweet basketball game in the end. I’d go see it then. Plus, David Slade, the director of “Hard Candy,” directed “Eclipse.” That’s reason enough for me to sacrifice my manliness and see this glitter-fest.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I must return to my musical marathon. Right now I’m on “Rent.”
