‘Remote Control’ Host Ken Ober Dead
Ken Ober, a Gen-X icon from his role as the host of MTV’s first game show “Remote Control,” died on Saturday. He was 52. While confirming the passing, his publicist had no further details.
Ober hosted “Remote Control,” along with sidekicks Marisol Massey, Kari Wuhrer and Colin Quinn (among others) from 1987 – 1989 on MTV. The TV-and-video music-themed game show featured sketches with rising comedians such as Denis Leary, Adam Sandler and John Ten Eyck, alongside viewers answering questions from categories like “Beat The Bishop,” “Dead or Alive” and “Rolling Stoned.”
Ober’s death was first reported as an Internet rumour, in the same vein as earlier false claims as Jeff Goldblum.
