Drew Barrymore Rolls In To Dallas
To celebrate her directorial debut with the upcoming movie “Whip It,” Drew Barrymore is staging a red carpet appearance in Dallas Wednesday (September 16) at Urban Outfitters.
“Whip It,” which hits theaters October 2, revolves around the Austin roller derby scene. Ellen Page stars as a young non-conformist who finds her ticket out of small-town drudgery by joining the Hurl Scouts, one of the teams competing in the Lone Star Roller Girls league.
Barrymore will be joined at the Urban Outfitters event by the Dallas Derby Devils, who will be presenting her with a team jersey and her own player name. The Derby Devils are a flat-track roller derby league, in their fifth year in North Texas.
The public is welcome at the event, scheduled to kick off around 7:00 pm; spectators must pick up a wrist band in advance (while they last, beginning at 5:30 pm) at Urban Outfitters (5331 E Mockingbird Ln, Suite 190, Dallas) in order to receive an autograph.
Red Carpet Crash will have video and photos from the event, as well as an interview with Barrymore and our review of “Whip It,” on Thursday.

I feel so emotionally drained….I LOVE Drew Barrymore but I HATE RollerDerby!
GUH!! MIXED FEELINGS! LOLZ
With the right crowd, and the right league, Roller Derby can be a helluva lot of fun. I’ve been a fan of the Derby Devils since their inception.
