Fox Sets Up Fantastic Four Reboot
In the aftershocks of Disney’s $4 billion buyout of Marvel Comics, Fox announced a reboot of the Fantastic Four series of movies. Akiva Goldsman has signed on to watch over the retooling of Reed Richards’ crew as producer of the new films.

The announcement help clear up a bit of the “who owns what” conversation left over from yesterday’s announcement of Disney’s acquisition of Marvel. As long as Fox keeps making the Fantastic Four movies, they keep the rights to the property. Marvel serves as a producer and financial partner in the film, which means Disney will get a piece of the box office pie in the long run. Fox also retains control of the X-Men, Daredevil, and Silver Surfer characters.
Goldsman isn’t a stranger to comic-to-film adaptations – he’s currently serving as producer for movies based on DC’s “Jonah Hex,” “Teen Titans” and “The Losers.”
The reboot of the Fantastic Four is still in its infancy, so there’s no word if the cast from the first two films – Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis – will remain in their roles.
