Which Studio Will Kick-Ass?

Yesterday, we posted the bootleg trailer for Matthew Vaughn’s “Kick-Ass,” a post-modern take on superhero culture adapted from Mark Millar’s comic series. The big delay in seeing an actual trailer – or a verified release date, for that matter – is the lack of a studio to distribute the film.

Sony was originally set to release the movie, but Vaughn was concerned with the studio’s censorship of the project and funded the whole thing on his own.

Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate, Paramount and Universal are all knocking on the door to put the film out. Reaction to the footage shown to San Diego Comic-Con attendees has a built a good amount of buzz for the movie, and the movie should see the light of day… sometime. Really. Honest.
